This hub will be about taking photos. I am beginner. I love to do this, but in most when someone who is intermediate talk about it I listen and I pretend that I understand. But I am ambitious and I am learning fast!

What type of camera?

Of course reflex-camera. Why? It’s simple. Because I must do everything oneself – diaphragm, time of shutter, zoom – everything. You must have some knowledge to take photos by this. It’s not boring toy for kids – bum! And you’ve got the photo. Of course – if you must take photo fast, it’s sensible. But if you take photos by old reflex-camera you do this for pleasure. Sometimes I stand and set up for a few minutes until I put shutter release. Taking photos photos by something like this require from you patient, especially if you beginner, like me.

Zenit

Do you know that brand? Did you heart about this brand? I suppose you don’t. But for people, whose country was in CCCP is normal - “Zenit? Yeah, my grandfather has it”. But obviously most of these idiots don’t know what is Zenit’s value. It’s next icon I am writing about. Like everything which was produced in CCCP Zenit is immortal. You don’t kill it. You can do with it everything and Zenit farther will be take photos.

I found my Zenit in old wardrobe. It was dirty. I went with Zenit to photographer and he fixed it. Since that moment I’ve been taking photos by it until now. I took about 200 hundred photos. It is total mechanic(no battery, forget about it), you must to develop a photo. In Poland it’s quite expensive, but who cares? It’s my hobby – end of discussion.

So, I will tell you about some technician facts:

Zenit has been produced in Russia in times of communism. You can buy it on countries which was in CCCP. The first Zenits was produced as modification of Zorkji camera. Zenits has been produced in Krasnogorsk in Russia in the main factory. Models, which has been produced there in many opinions are the best produced. By the way I have Zenit which has been produced in Krasnogorsk. The most famous model are:

  • TTL
  • 12xp
  • 122
  • 11
  • Zenit –E

I’ve got Zenit 11 model.

Technician facts:

  • Shutter is cloth on the course of a horizontal
  • Range of shutter times - 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500s
  • Time-releaser – 7 seconds.
  • Synchronisation of time – releaser: 1/30s.
  • Maximum photos that you can take – 36.

My Zenit 11

I’ve got Zenit 11 with standard lens Helios and telephoto lens by Jupiter. It’s great fun to take photos by this. I love to go for a trip to forest at the weekend and took some photos. And that’s all. It’s oldschool.  Zenit is oldschool. It’s symbol – it was luxury to have Zenit in that times. Having Zenit you have something which is original, immortal, well – produced and also has value of history.

Very interesting. I'm not familiar with the brand, but I do know I miss the days of my single lens reflex camera, a Pentax. Now I have a less capable digital camera, but I could never go back to paying for film developing (that is until I make a lot more money).

Thanks, I enjoyed the article...

Thanks for your comment bbnix. I appreciate it :)

Yes, I agree about developing, but I think that ownership of machine like Zenit, Pentax or Praktika in good condition can give a lot of fun. For taking photos every day you use some digital camera, but from time to time you can use old relfex camera - for pleasure :)

Thanks!
